7x16 14,000-lb Dump Trailer Rental, Columbia MD
Our biggest dump: two more feet of bed than the 7x14 for bulky, light debris like whole-house cleanouts, big roof tear-offs and storm brush. Same 14,000-lb rating and hydraulic lift: back it up, hit the remote and the load slides out. Want the smaller one? See the 7x14.

Check your truck before you book
It's a 14,000-lb trailer like the 7x14, and a loaded one puts roughly 1,400–2,100 lb on your hitch. Plan on a ¾-ton or larger pickup with a brake controller, and check your truck in the tow checker.
Hauling for work with a one-ton? A one-ton plus a loaded 14K trailer can top 26,000 lb combined, which needs a Class A CDL for commercial use. Check your truck's GCWR.
How much it holds, by material
Payload, not volume, limits heavy materials. Never fill gravel or soil to the top.
| Material | lb per cu yd | Max per load (est.) |
|---|---|---|
| Mixed remodel or cleanout debris | 450 | Full bed |
| Asphalt shingles | 731 | Full bed |
| Yard waste and brush | 127 | Full bed |
| Mulch | 800 | Full bed |
| Topsoil or dirt | 2,100 | About 4.5 cu yd (55% full) |
| Gravel, sand or stone | 2,700 | About 3.5 cu yd (43% full) |

Where to dump it
Howard County: Alpha Ridge Landfill, 2350 Marriottsville Rd, Marriottsville, MD. Any resident using a trailer or rental vehicle is treated as a commercial customer: a $40 yearly permit and every load crosses the scale. Residents using a rental vehicle may also need a special-exception form approved before unloading, so call ahead. Construction debris is $106/ton plus a 2.45% card fee. Monday–Saturday only; Howard County waste only.
Every county around us weighs rented trailer loads and charges by the ton, and none opens Sunday.
Return It Loaded
Bring it back full and we take it to the scale for the county price plus $49. Saturday-afternoon renters: this is how you avoid keeping a full trailer until Monday.
Questions about the 7x16 14K Dump
7x14 or 7x16?
Same weight limit, more room. The 7x16 holds about 8.2 cubic yards to the 7x14's 7.17, which helps with bulky, light debris like cleanouts and brush. For heavy stuff like dirt, shingles or concrete, weight runs out first, so the 7x14 at $165/day does the same job for less.
What do I need to tow it?
A ¾-ton or larger pickup, a 2-5/16" ball, a 7-way plug and a working brake controller. Use the tow checker.
Does it come with a tarp?
Yes. Tarp it before you drive; Maryland requires covered loads.
