Privacy policy
Effective January 1, 2026. IronBay Rentals LLC ("we") runs ironbayrentals.com. This explains what personal data we collect, why, and the choices you have under Maryland law, including the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act.
What we collect
- You give us: name, mobile number, email, delivery address or ZIP, tow vehicle details, rental dates, and messages.
- When you rent: the signed rental agreement and payment details (processed by our payment processor; we don't store full card numbers).
- Automatically: basic site analytics such as pages viewed and device type (Google Analytics 4).
Identity verification (driver's license and selfie)
Before we release a trailer, we ask you to photograph your driver's license and take a selfie. Our verification provider (Stripe Identity) compares the selfie with the license photo to confirm you are the license holder. This comparison uses biometric data, which Maryland law treats as sensitive data. We collect it only with your consent, which you give in the verification step, and we use it only to verify your identity for the rental. We never sell it or use it for advertising. We keep license images and verification results for 90 days after your rental closes and then delete them. You can skip the online check by showing your license in person during staffed hours.
Trailer location (GPS)
Our trailers carry GPS trackers. They record the trailer's location, not your phone's, during your rental and until the trailer is back at our yard. We use this location only to recover equipment, confirm return time, and investigate theft or damage. We keep location history for 90 days.
Why we use it
Only to handle your rental: confirm bookings, verify identity, take payment and holds, send rental texts, recover our equipment, meet legal and tax obligations, and improve the site. We collect only what's reasonably necessary for those purposes.
What we don't do
- We don't sell personal data.
- We don't use your data for targeted advertising based on sensitive data.
- We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Who we share it with
Service providers who work for us under contract: booking and payment platform, ID verification, SMS provider, website host, insurer for claims, and authorities when the law requires it.
Your Maryland privacy choices
You can ask to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal data, and opt out of any sale or targeted advertising. We honor Global Privacy Control signals. Contact rent@ironbayrentals.com or text (443) 766-0027. We'll respond within 45 days. If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our decision.
How long we keep it
Rental records for 4 years for tax and legal reasons; ID images and verification results for 90 days after your rental closes; trailer GPS history for 90 days; marketing data until you opt out.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, and our providers encrypt payment and ID data.
