Compliance your crew needs to know
- Brakes: Maryland requires brakes on all wheels and a breakaway system on trailers over 10,000 lb. Every tow vehicle needs a working brake controller.
- CDL: a one-ton plus a loaded 14K trailer can top 26,001 lb GCWR, which puts commercial use into Class A CDL territory.
- Disposal: trailer loads are scale-weighed and charged in every county. Howard requires a $40 yearly permit and takes Howard waste only. See the county guides.
